I’m Marisol Guzman. I graduated from McGavock High School last May and was thrilled to receive the McGavock Scholars scholarship. I was very fortunate to attend McGavock and take part in the academies there. Being a part of the Academy of Hospitality and Finance and the Entrepreneurship pathway, I was able to get a job at both the US Community Credit Union and Gaylord Opryland Hotel.
I recently completed my first semester at Babson College in Massachusetts, and I sure did learn a lot. Thanks to various scholarships including this one, I am going to college basically for free. I used the five hundred dollar scholarship to buy books for my first two semesters of college. Although five hundred dollars may not seem like a lot, it makes a big difference. Without the books required for the class, I’m pretty sure that I would have failed almost all my courses except for First Year Seminar. For that, I’m very grateful to all the donors.
Thanks to McGavock and with the help of the McGavock Scholars scholarship, I’m currently studying to get a Bachelor of Science in Business Management with a concentration in Entrepreneurship at the number one college for Entrepreneurship in the country. After graduating from college, I plan on coming back to Tennessee and starting my own real-estate business that practices open hiring.
