My name is Said Mohamed. I graduated from McGavock High School in May 2016 from the Academy of Aviation and Transportation and am currently a Mechanical Engineering student at Tennessee Technological University. I earned a 4.0 GPA during my first semester of college in the fall of 2016. The McGavock Scholars scholarship has helped me to achieve this goal. There are many expenses associated with attending college, and many students have trouble focusing on schoolwork because they have to work to pay for everything. This scholarship helped to cover my expenses so that I can focus on my studies and be an active participant in different organizations at my school. I was even able to use some of the money to save for a car! I am very grateful for this scholarship and the opportunities it has allowed me to pursue. Without it, I probably wouldn’t have been able to maximize my college experience like I have this semester.
